On May 11, 2018, the sun was shining as we broke ground on the Precision Farming Field Plot for the first time. The Case IH 335 VT was selected as the tool of choice for managing crop residue, airing the soil and incorporating nutrients. The day before, urea fertilizer was broadcasted to the field at a rate of 200lbs N/Acre creating a need for quick action.

Urea has a high volatilization potential and requires incorporation into the soil. After a week of occasional rainfall, the conditions became favorable for a secondary tillage pass. The field was worked in final preparation for creating a desirable seedbed just hours before planting.
