On May 17, 2018, the first ever Precision Farming Field Plot was planted.

There was concern that the field wouldn’t be dry enough after some rain earlier in the week, but with a windy day and sunshine, we were out in the field by early afternoon. The Case IH 2150 Early Riser planter that was displayed at the Ft. Wayne Farm Show was driven off the lot and into the field.

On the first pass, the drone unexpectedly came too close to the tree line and well, it wrecked. We were able to get it back into the air and it appears to be fixable.

As we were planting the control passes, the monitor was showing an issue with row 12. After finishing the field and doing some investigation, we found human error. The team had forgotten to remove the duct tape from the meter on earlier trials.
